Student's point of view

Jani Nöjd“I chose the Degree Programme in Chemical Engineering, because I think it will benefit me in the future. Since the degree programme is conducted in English, it also provides me with more career opportunities, as I am able to work in different countries.

I am the only Finnish student in the degree programme, and in the beginning it was strange to have to communicate only in English. But with time I got used to it. The most challenging part for me was the terminology of the field, since I was not familiar with it.

When I started in the degree programme, my English was good but not perfect. During studies my proficiency in English has improved because I use the language daily. I have also gotten to know different cultures and customs.

There is no need to be afraid of studying in English and you should definitely also apply to degree programmes in English. It will undoubtedly open up various career paths in the future. I believe that a lot of people think studying in English is more difficult than it really is.”

Jani Nöjd from Finland is studying Chemical Engineering in Imatra.
