“I chose the Saimaa University Applied Sciences because of its orientation to Russian trade, intercultural communication and high quality of education. Studying in Saimaa UAS is also a great opportunity to plunge into an atmosphere of internationality and diverse skills.
I study in the Degree Programme in International Business. The main advantage of studying at Saimaa UAS is that students can apply their knowledge in practice by, for instance, meeting with representatives of diverse organizations and presentations of materials about these companies. This studying method is very interesting to me and useful for the future. In my opinion, the feedback system in Saimaa UAS is also very workable. Students have many opportunities to give feedback about courses, teachers and study methods, and achieved or unachieved goals. It helps to improve the teaching and the courses.
We have also the opportunity to have one or two semesters of exchange in some Saimaa UAS’ partner university. Partner universities are located all over the world. I decided to go to Germany for an exchange program. A few things influenced my decision. Firstly, it is a great opportunity to learn the language. Germany is also a highly innovative country, where I can acquire many skills in the field of international business. Finally, its location near to so many countries makes travelling possible.
International business is an area of education which includes a variety of jobs, including marketers, managers, sellers, insurance experts and logisticians. I still don’t know what my dream job is, but I am inclined to the insurance and marketing spheres more than others. These fields are interesting and informative for me. So, I suppose that my choice of university will help me to arrange my future career. After graduating from Saimaa UAS, I plan to apply for a master’s degree. I would probably prefer to work for two or three years before continuing my education, because in Finland the working experience is valued in applying for a master’s degree.
The students at the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences have active leisure time. There are plenty of sport facilities for things like downhill skiing, snowboarding, running swimming, tennis, basketball and football. Also the student union SAIKO’s members organize different kinds of activities, such as student parties, orienteering and travelling tours. All these things create a wonderful and unforgettable life for students in the cities of Lappeenranta and Imatra.”
