“My studies began in August 2011. I chose the Degree Programme in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management, because I want to make my childhood dream a reality. I also followed my passion to contribute to the growth of Vietnam’s tourism economy.
I have always dreamt of working in the service industry because I am very interested in working with and for people. As I grew up, I have been fortunate to be exposed to traveling and saw a lot of dimensions of the field. That has also ensured my choice.
We do many activities in groups and many individual assignments. I like Saimaa UAS's teaching methods because it combines personal effort with team spirit. It is also a chance to improve my communication skills as well as widen my network of friends. The most challenging thing for me is the terminology in the business field. However, I now read a lot of books and research a lot on my own to help myself understand and catch up with the lessons. Saimaa UAS also gives the opportunity for practical classes.
Saimaa UAS creates an international atmosphere. I am studying in an international class with friends from all around the world. I learn about their cultures and share my culture as well. My Finnish friends are very cool and friendly. They helped me to adapt to the environment, and they also help me learn Finnish.
So far, my teachers have been very helpful and nice. During the class they try to answer the questions from the students. They are also very friendly outside the class. I have a wonderful tutor who explains to me about Saimaa UAS and the study's curriculum if I don't understand. She also has time available for any students who have any problems concerning school, life in Finland, or even accommodation.
I experience a very different student’s life here. I have good memories about the freshmen party in Lappeenranta. I learnt about my friends and had so much fun. It is a party that I will definitely never forget. Frankly speaking, I love the peaceful atmosphere in Imatra and the picturesque Finland. It is an ideal place to study and also to learn more about different cultures. This is the first time I have seen snow in my life, and it is utterly brilliant.
Saimaa University of Applied Sciences is a great place to build the foundation for your future. I receive a good education here, have chances to indulge myself in Finnish culture and be friends with international students around the world.”
