All applicants must attend an entrance examination. Degree Programme in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism ManagementThe Entrance exam will be arranged in Finland on 26 April 2012The SUAS Bachelor of Hospitality Management entrance exam consists of a written part and an interview. The written part is divided into three sections, essay, mathematics and multiple choice questions and the interview provides information of the candidate on the level of spoken English and motivation towards the programme. Applicants must pass all the parts of the examination in order to be selected for admission. Degree Programme in International BusinessThe Entrance exam will be arranged in Finland on 25 April 2012The SUAS International Business entrance exam consists of a written part (essay, tasks of applied mathematics and logic) and an interview. The exam essay and multiple choice questions will be based on pre-reading material that the applicants must study before coming to the entrance exam. Applicants must pass all the parts of the examination in order to be selected for admission. The International Business Entrance Exam 2012 is based on the following pre-reading material. The applicant must study the material carefully before coming to the entrance exam. The applicant cannot take this material to the actual entrance exam and the material is not available for the applicant during the actual entrance exam. There will be an essay and 15 multiple choice questions based on this pre-reading material. International Business Entrance Exam 2012 will be based on Metso Annual Report 2010 “Results by Working Together”. You can download it as a PDF file here (5.25 MB) or to read it electronically at http://www.metso.com/reports/2010/annual/index.html The report consists of five sections and you are advised to read the entire report for general understanding. You are then advised to concentrate on sections titled Metso (pp.1-49), Business Review (pp.50-68), Financial Statements (pp.137-148) and Governance (pp.149-166). Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering and Production TechnologyThe Entrance exam will be arranged in Finland on 26 April 2012 The SUAS Mechanical Engineering and Production Technology entrance exam consists of two parts:Part 1: Mathematics, Logical deduction, Physics and Chemistry: Simplifying of expressions, solving of equations, pair of equations, triconometry, geometry, applications of percent calculation, basics of mechanics, basics of electricity, basics of heat Part 2: English language: Grammar, reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing and answering to questions Entrance examinations Outside FinlandSaimaa University of Applied Sciences organise entrance exams abroad in cooperation with the so called FINNIPS network (Finnish Network for International Programmes). To make up their mind about which 1 - 4 degree programmes to apply for, applicants can check which degree programmes in Finland accept the entrance exam of each other on the website of the Finnish National Board of Education, please see. Entrance examinations of Saimaa UAS degree programmes abroad in the spring 2012 / Countries Examination will be held in the countries listed below. Changes are possible. Applicant who is a citizen of an EU/EEA-country: Polytechnics/UAS evaluate applicants' language skills in a language test included in the entrance examination. An applicant who fails the language test is withdrawn from admission. An applicant can be exempted from the language test, if he or she has provided a certificate of his/her language skills to his/her first-choice UAS.
