Tuition is free of charge at the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences
Wednesday, 08 December 2010 10:50

Even if nine Finnish universities and ten universities of applied sciences begin to collect tuition fees in the next academic year 2011-2012, there will be no tuition fee at the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences next year and in the foreseeable future.

The Ministry of Education allowed tuition fees at the beginning of 2010 as an experimental project for some institutions of higher education, but Saimaa UAS is not among the institutions that are involved in this project. In this experiment the Ministry of Education and Culture allows universities to collect fees from students who are citizens of countries outside of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland. The experiment will finish at the end of 2014.

As the Lappeenranta University of Technology is among the universities that start to collect tuition fees for their master programmes next year, there has been some confusion among applicants who are planning to apply for programmes at Saimaa UAS in Lappeenranta or in Imatra. Therefore we want to emphasize that no tuition fees are collected from students starting in Saimaa UAS bachelor or master programmes next year.
