“Time has been passing quickly since the first time I stepped onto the land of Finland four years ago. I can thank my brother for coming here. He had been studying here before, and through photos and videos he showed me how interesting his study life in Lappeenranta was. There is a big difference in teaching methods between Finland and China. Here in Finland, we do our study tasks more independently and often as group works. I like this way of studying, because it makes us better problem solvers and team players. In the Mechanical Engineering Degree Programme, we have an opportunity to study in Denmark as an exchange student for one year. For exchange study and the placement abroad, we can apply for financial support from our school. Another difference from China is that during the summer holiday, you can take summer courses here or in some other city in this part of Finland. Last year I took a course called Finnish Language and Culture. In this course, the teacher guided us to some museums and places of historical interest in order to help us clear the Finnish culture. During this course, I also made a lot of friends from other universities. We often had parties or barbecues together on the weekends. It was a wonderful summer!” Tu Tan |
