Degree Programme in Chemical Engineering in ImatraSaimaa UAS will not take new students in 2012 to study in the Degree Programme in Chemical Engineering. Bachelor of Engineering Duration and extent of studies The aim of the Degree Programme in Chemical Engineering is to provide students with the skills necessary to work in independent managerial, planning, consulting, technical sales and expert positions in the chemical and process industries, as well as forest biorefiniers. The degree programme has been built in close cooperation with the industry. A Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering can work e.g. as product engineer, product development engineer, sales engineer and purchaser, supervisor, manager and consultant. The students become acquainted with: Plant design systems, process modelling and simulation are studied and practised. Process technology, heat and mass transfer, modelling with state-of-the-art design systems, automation, applied chemistry, physics and mathematics are examples of the study courses. The studies also include management and economics. Extensive placement periods in industry form an essential part of the studies. Students have the opportunity to prepare their B.Sc. thesis to meet the needs of the industry. The language of instruction is English.
