Student Health Care Services in Lappeenranta and Imatra
Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) organises health care services for the students of the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences. The FSHS services are offered to the students who study on degree programmes in Lappeenranta and Imatra. The Lappeenranta office of the FSHS is located at the Skinnarila Campus and the Imatra service point is at the Linnala Campus.

NB: Students studying in Imatra will continue to have their health care provided by the City of Imatra until the end of December 2012. The FSHS starts its services in Imatra at the beginning of January 2013.
Since the autumn of 2011, the degree programme students at the Saimaa University of Applied Sciences have been eligible for health care services through the FSHS in Lappeenranta. At the beginning of January the services will be extended to Imatra.
The goal of this 3-year pilot programme is to develop health care services using the FSHS model to insure both comprehensive and quality health care for UAS students.
The FSHS pilot programme will also be in effect in Seinäjoki, Ähtäri, Ilmajoki, Kurikka and Kauhajoki. It ends in all locations on 31 July 2014.
The Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) offers care for general health, mental health, and oral health. Degree programme students studying in Lappeenranta and Imatra are eligible for these services after they have paid a yearly fee. This fee can be paid online).
FSHS services for students in Lappeenranta:
– general health: appointments with nurses, public health nurses, general doctors and specialists, lab and x-ray, prescription renewal, physiotherapy, immunizations and travel advice
– oral health: appointments with dentists, dental specialists and dental hygienists
– mental health: appointments with psychiatrists or psychologists, crisis care
FSHS services for students in Imatra (starting at the beginning of January 2013):
– Appointments with nurses, referrals to doctors and psychologists, prescription renewals
– Referrals to physiotherapists, laboratories, ultrasound and x-ray
– Oral health care services arranged at the Skinnarila campus.
NB: The FSHS offices are closed in the evenings, at night, and during the weekends.
FSHS services are offered to the students who study on degree programmes in Lappeenranta and Imatra. The student is entitled to use the services after paying the annual health care service fee. The fee of 22 euros for spring semester 2013 must be paid before using the FSHS services, on 15th of February at the latest. The payment entitles students to use all FSHS services in 15 locations in Finland.
NB: Only students who study in Imatra can use the FSHS services in Imatra.
The FSHS is located at the Skinnarila Campus in the premises of the Lappeenranta University of Technology. The FSHS in Imatra is located at the Linnala campus on the second floor.
The appointments with a nurse on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 8 to 12. At other times by telephone from Monday to Thursday from 8:15 to 15:00 and on Friday from 8:00 to 14:00.
