The Northern Europe and Russia establish the area in which consist of one of the world’s best educated population. There is located a huge concentration of higher education institutions, their students, teachers and researchers. The foreseeable development of increased role of knowledge based societies and economic models, digitalisation as one example of that, underlines the demand of wide higher education of population, cutting-edge research in different disciplines, highly skilled and competitive workforce. In our time there is burning demand of ethos in which decision making process is based on well grounded knowledge and high intellectual capacity of decision makers and population. As much as climate change or socially and ecologically sustainable economy are international challenges of humankind, science and knowledge are international by nature. Proper facilitation of Russian-Finnish cooperation is a part of that international cooperation in which partners complement each other, their cooperation release new intellectual resources and creativity and at the best it leads to qualitatively new outcomes. In addressing to that challenge is the next step to the future.
