Saimaa Calling – International week “Creating truly international higher education communities”

In addition to the arranged programme, lecturers will arrange their lectures according to the timetables of the corresponding study programmes. Teaching staff members are welcome to participate the program if it doesn’t clash with the lectures.

Teaching programme

Please note that there will be no transportation between from Imatra to Lappeenranta to participate the non-teaching staff programme, except for the evening programme on Monday and Wednesday.

International Week  Saimaa is calling takes place at the Saimaa UAS’s campuses in towns Imatra and Lappeenranta, which are about 40 km apart. Teaching for Tourism and Hospitality and Fine Arts are located in Imatra, and Health Care and Social Services, Business Administration and Technology are located in Lappeenranta. Teaching in Languages and Intercultural Communication can be either in Lappeenranta or Imatra. The manager of the language center will confirm to each participant in which town the lectures will take place. Programme for non-teaching staff is organized in Lappeenranta.

Fees and costs
There is no fee for the international week, but participants are expected to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.

Teaching sessions
All participants are given opportunity to meet the possible mobility programme requirements. To meet the Erasmus+ programme requirements, we will organize 8 teaching lessons a`45 minutes for teachers participating via Erasmus+ programme*. For teachers participating via FIRST –programme (from Russia), 5 teaching lessons are organized to meet the programme criteria. Teaching hours for visiting lecturers outside the Erasmus+ and FIRST –programmes will be agreed individually. Some visiting teachers may also teach in workshops, hence the number of teaching hours will be agreed upon separately. The possible fields of teaching are:

– Languages and Intercultural Communication

*If your mobility is part of the Erasmus+ program which is aiming to improve teachers’ pedagogical and curriculum design skills, the required amount of teaching lessons is 4. Please ask further details from your international relations office.
