Arriving from Russia
Most of our guests from Russia usually arrive by train to Finland. The closest railway station from Russia to Lappeenranta and Imatra is Vainikkala. There is a taxi service connection between the Vainikkala railway station and Lappeenranta travel centre. Taxi costs 10 euros/one way/person. Please note that the taxi must be called in advance, at least 1h 30min before the train arrives/leaves Vainikkala. Please find more information at Lappeenranta website

If you are heading to Imatra, you can take a bus or train from Lappeenranta travel centre to Imatra. Please find more information on trains at www.vr.fi/ and busses www.matkahuolto.fi/

Arriving by plane
Most international flights to Finland arrive at Helsinki airport.

Lappeenranta and Imatra are located about 220 – 250 km from Helsinki, which means about 2 – 2,5 hours by train, or 3,5 – 5 hours by bus from Helsinki airport. Please find more information on the airport connections at the airport website.

Taking a train:
If you take a train to Lappeenranta or Imatra, please see the timetables and prices on the VR website. You can buy the ticket online, or from VR ticket machine at the station. Please find more information on how to buy the ticket at the Helsinki airport here.

Please note! Though most common debit and credit cards work properly on the train, Visa Electron, Diners Club, Diners Club Discover, Maestro and similar cards requiring authentication cannot be used for any payments on the train. You can withdraw cash from the airport, and the ATMs are marked with orange OTTO signs.

Taking a bus:
If you decide to take a bus, please check the timetables and prices on the Matkakeisari website (if you come from Helsinki airport, please choose From: Helsinki-Vantaa airport). Please find more information on the bus stops at the Helsinki airport here.

 

Local transportation

In Imatra:
The train arrives to Imatra central station and you can get a taxi from the station. You can also reach Spa Hotel Rantasipi Imatran Valtionhotelli or Center Hotel Imatra by foot, as those are located approximately 3 kilometres from the railway station. You can also take bus no. 1 or 3 to Helsingintie, which is the closest bus stop to the hotels. You can buy the ticket from the driver in cash.

When coming from the city centre to our campus, you can either have a walk or take a bus. The lines 1 and 3 go from the city centre to to our campus. Please get off the bus at the swimming hall, which is the nearest bus stop to our Linnala campus. One trip costs about 3,60 euros.

In Lappeenranta:
When you arrive to Lappeenranta travel centre, you can find taxis in front of the station. You can also walk to the centre of Lappeenranta (about 1,5 km), or take a bus. Please find journey planner for Lappeenranta local public transportation here. When you are coming to our campus, the destination is Yliopisto. Bus lines 1, 3 and 5 goes regularly between the city center and our campus. One trip costs about 3,60 euros.
